Andusian is one of the world's five major language families, native to most of Andusia — the mainland south of the Herta-Olaic range, excluding Betonia, which belongs to Njeshan. Proto-Andusian has been reconstructed, and the family falls into three primary branches: North Andusian, South Andusian, and Unterian.

Branches

Each branch descends from its own reconstructed intermediate ancestor. The order in which the three branches separated cannot be recovered, and no subgrouping among them is established.

The three branches make distinct choices with the ancestral sound system, and each preserves contrasts the others abandoned: North Andusian keeps the labiovelar and prenasalized stops but reworks the vowels, South Andusian alone retains the uvulars, and Unterian keeps the full seven-vowel system while simplifying its consonants. Reconstruction of Proto-Andusian therefore rests on comparison across all three.

Members

The earliest attested member is Besoh (Bëson), an ancient language of the South Andusian branch.

Distribution

In waves of colonial expansion, Andusian languages came to be widely spoken across Vetsia and are present in smaller areas of Sihia.
