Njeshan is one of the five major Yezuri language families, native to the west of Ignusia and to Betonia. Proto-Njeshan has been partially reconstructed.

Branches

Njeshan comprises three branches. The Betonia branch includes Lonish; the northwestern branch, in the northwest of Ignusia, includes Nichana and Uu; and the southwestern branch, in the southwest of Ignusia, includes Pjany.

Attested medieval stages include Otjesi (ancestor of Lonish), High Nichana (ancestor of Nichana), and Pises (ancestor of Pjany).

Distribution

Njeshan has not been carried abroad by major colonial expansion; outside its homeland it is encountered only sporadically.
