Welcome to Yezur
the free encyclopedia of our world — its lands, its peoples, and its tongues
currently 23 articles and growing

Yezur is our world: a globe of many continents, from the narrow straits that bind Andusia to Ignusia to the island chains reaching out toward Taccho. Its recorded history runs deepest around the eastern inland sea of Ignusia — long remembered as the cradle of civilization — where the ancient tongue of Hertic was among the first to be written. From those beginnings, five great language families have spread across the world, carried far beyond their homelands by ages of migration and expansion into the New World.

The continents

The known world is divided among eight great landmasses: Andusia, Ignusia, Lovvocia, Pandenica, Sihia, Taccho, Vetsia, and Vetsihia.

Two of them cradle Yezur's oldest and newest chapters alike: Ignusia in the northwest, whose inland seas hold the cradle of civilization, and Andusia to its southwest, joined to it by a chain of narrow straits.

Languages

Yezur's tongues are gathered into five major language families. Among those attested so far:

Language Endonym Era
Gaillean language Ghaellea Ancient
Hertic language Χερτεχι Ancient
Lonish language Lôniêv Modern
Nichana language Nehchánh Modern
Pjany language Peanei Modern
Uu language Uu-Co Modern

Companion works

This encyclopedia is one of three companion works that chart Yezur:

  • The Dictionary — the interlingual dictionary of Yezur's languages, word by word.
  • The Map — the atlas of the world and the craft of charting it; explore it directly at yezur.xyz.

This encyclopedia is young, and much of the world is still being charted. New pages appear as Yezur takes shape.
