Worked examples for Template:Translations. Every word below is a real Dictionary entry, so each link should render blue; reconstructed languages are starred by the registry, not by hand. The only deliberate exception is the unrecognized code in the last case.

Full spread: several families, attested and reconstructed

Translations — water
Herta-Olaic
Njeshan
Andusian

Synonyms within one language

A value may hold several words, separated by commas:

Translations — you
Herta-Olaic
Andusian

Homonym handling: one box per sense

Two senses of the same English headword each get their own box. A word that carries both senses appears in both:

Translations — head, the top of a person
Herta-Olaic
Njeshan
Andusian
  • Proto-Andusian: *ɣa
Translations — head, the front or chief of something
Herta-Olaic

Missing gloss, and a code the registry does not know:

Translations — no gloss given
Njeshan
unrecognized code YQQ-ZZ: unresolvable
