Middle Airananwe (Hayraanye [häjraːɲə]) is a medieval language of the Herta-Olaic family, descended from Gaillean and the ancestor of Airananwe.

It is not a halfway point between the two. It has a phonology of its own: a phonemic palatal series, three prenasalised stops, long vowels written double, and a voiced obstruent that is voiceless word-finally and voiced again before a vowel. Nouns follow a single declension — four cases in two numbers, without gender — and adpositions are still free words, attaching to the noun only in the modern language.
