Yezur Wiki:English lemma worklist
This page is the worklist for giving every Yezuri word an English entry to be translated from — the hub-language pass described at Yezur Wiki:Dictionary structure. It is a proposal: the triage below was made mechanically and then by judgement, and the operator rules.
Where the number comes from
The Lexemes table holds 4,284 non-English lexemes carrying 711 distinct glosses. Of those, 42 already have an English entry.
Glosses do not map one-to-one onto lemmas. Thirty-seven are a head word with a sense in brackets — bone (body part) beside bone (material) — and every one of those head words is already a gloss in its own right, so they add senses, not pages. Collapsing them leaves 638 settled lemmas and 36 glosses that needed a judgement call.
598 lemmas still want an entry. Ranked by how many languages share the gloss, since that is how much a translations box is worth:
| Languages sharing the gloss | Lemmas | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 10–11 | 163 | core vocabulary; the richest boxes |
| 6–9 | 23 | |
| 3–5 | 281 | |
| 1–2 | 131 | a box here has one or two rows |

| mangrove swamp | 1 | swamp |

Not an English lemma at all
These gloss what an affix does. The affix entries keep them as definitions; no English page follows.
| Gloss | Languages | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| abstract noun | 1 | describes what a suffix derives |
| adverbial marker | 1 | a grammatical label |
| person affix | 2 | describes what an affix does, not an English word |
| result noun | 2 | describes what a suffix derives |
Needs a ruling
- he/she/it/etc (4 languages) — English has no single lemma covering all three; needs a ruling
Open questions
- Do the 1–2 language lemmas earn a page? A translations box with a single row states little. They could be deferred until a second language shares the gloss.
- How far down the ranking does this pass go? The 10–11 band is the natural first tranche.
- Reciprocity. Yezur Wiki:Dictionary structure holds that a foreign entry links back to its English lemma with
{{d|word|YXS-EN}}. Most of the 4,284 foreign entries carry a plain gloss instead, so honouring this in full is roughly four thousand edits — mechanical, and arguably the same job as the deferred inflected-form bot.
